Reading a different genre

The dissertation series Etudes is primarily aimed at publishing studies and essays on the history and theory of literature, of course focusing on the frontiers and processes that are increasingly directing literary science towards cultural science today. As the title suggests, the series is intended to be a collection of shorter writings that will be brought together by a topic or selected point of view. Erika Bence deals with the dilemmas of the genre of historical novel related to Vojvodina as a cultural region and its tradition in this volume. The author's starting point is the work of Nándor Gion. In addition to the interpretations of the Gion novels, the analyzes also pay attention to the processes taking place in the present horizon, and the author attempts to place the prose of Mária Vasagyi or Ildikó Lovas in the tradition of the historical novel.
