Description
There was no, no, there will be no village, no district, no city without a main street. Spontaneously or in a planned way, a longer or shorter route is considered to be the main street, shops and institutions are found, and its existence becomes one with the city. However, its physical condition, use and atmosphere are not only a reflection of the place, but also of the age. The book describes some of the renewables, the physical and social environment and results of the transformation process. We visit Budapest, Madrid, Łódź, New York, Berlin, Edinburgh, Vienna, among others. they show, they revive, they can revive always and everywhere. Melinda Benkő Architect-Urbanist, Head of Department BUTE Department of Urbanism Immersed in our thoughts, we don’t always see what’s around us. But there are moments when, for some reason, one is amazed at the street view, the houses, we feel the spaciousness or the scarcity of space, we notice the buzz or that life is stuck on the street. Once the street starts talking, we notice how our environment communicates with us. We notice the new, the transformation, or just the forgotten suddenly shows up. In this case, one understands one's environment and oneself in it. The studies in this volume are guides to help the reader in such moments of wonder and understanding.
